This project involved the restoration of this multi-family townhouse to single-family use. The central design element is a new staircase of steel and bronze mesh panels, reminiscent of early open elevator shafts in Europe. For this design, BWA conducted a study of Sir John Soane’s Museum, a private home transformed into a museum in central London, designed circa 1830. This important and influential museum explores concepts of light filtering and reflection, along with inventive and still very fresh and modern interior elevations and details.
